Here Lies A Queen

Description

Skyler's resting place.
This is one of the few magical areas in the human world.
It is the place where she met Rein 20 or so years ago.
He buried her there after she died along with their daughter she died giving birth to.
It is really sad, but I had always planned to kill off Skyler.
I loved her, but Rein has always had a tragic life. He finally got his world put back together again only to lose the person who found the pieces for him.

I am awful to my characters. Prewarning.
Lunar left the flowers there. He doesn't remember Sky in anything other than blurry memories. He only is reminded of her by his fathers depression. He knows even though Rein is still strong and still pushed forward as the king of the Lupin Kingdom, there will always be a hole for his lost love and the daughter he never got to see smile.

The tombstone says:
R.I.P
Here lies
Skyler Crossentine

A queen
A mother.
A wife.

Never forgotten.
Always missed.

Guys, SR is just about to get deep. I mean, right now, I am just scraping the surface of the story.

I love the bit of backstory included here in the Author's Notes. I'm particularly fond of tormenting my characters, and can appreciate such from other writers as well. <__< The story kind of reminds me of Starklyn -- Inayriss' husband. He lost his first wife giving birth to their second son, and essentially shunned his first as a result. It's only fairly recently that he ended up with Inayriss as he needed an heir and Mezoar (his oldest son) got himself exiled. Inayriss even hated Starklyn for the first hundred and thirty years of their marriage or so because he was cold, distant, and nothing like the young men that had been courting her before he came along. Though they're all happy now, and are some of Artheeria's favorite characters. :la:

As to the picture, the text is a little hard to read without referring to the Author's Notes, even when I'm viewing it at its full size. I must say, though, the way you drew the willow tree is beautiful. The twisting pieces of the trunk remind me of some of the older willows and cottonwood trees that I found around where I grew up. The kind that are fairly old now, and are more beautiful for being bent and weathered. Overall, you did a really nice job with the shading. :meow:
